The Yarnell Fire Department is committed to assisting the people who live, work, and travel through Yarnell in every way it can. Our personnel are dedicated to service and view the community as customers who deserve quality care.

The Department believes in a positive environment and strives for excellence through teamwork, training, preparedness, and mutual respect and trust.

Department personnel include local volunteers as well as volunteer and shift Firefighters, EMTs and Paramedics from other cities in Arizona, including the Prescott and greater Phoenix areas.

Yarnell is a small, isolated, rural mountain community 35 minutes from the nearest hospital and ambulance service, and a minimum of 20 minutes from the nearest helicopter service.

The Department provides critical emergency services as well as day-to-day life assistance services. Many of the citizens are elderly and commonly need emergency treatment for diabetes, heart conditions, COPD, and falls. In addition, because general services are limited in this small community, the Department is the “go-to” place when assistance is needed for a variety of daily problems.

State Highway 89 runs through the middle of town. Access from the west is via “Yarnell Hill,” a very dangerous, nationally-known destination for motorcyclists; the Department must all too frequently treat severe trauma patients resulting from motorcycle- as well as vehicle accidents.
